Day 5: Sat 5 Mar - Burrum Heads to Home, 22 km; total towed: 49 km

Being a Saturday, we were all up early and on the road by 6:30 am for our bike ride. 20 km later, we were back at the vans. Greg and I had another coffee before packing up.

We were on the road for the long trip home by 8:25 am and were home 28 minutes later. An hour after that, the washing was almost done, and we were haivng another cuppa.

We really enjoyed our four nights away in the van. One forgets how relaxing it can be. We knoe the aircon still works as we gave it a good work out each night, just to be sure!

Thankfully, the only bad weather we had was yesterday, but it didn't last long.

Day 4: Fri 4 Mar - Burrum Heads

A cool morning with a warm, humid afternoon

We all did our own things, exercise wise this morning. Greg went for a walk, Wendy went for a separate walk, Carmel went jogging and swimming, and Glen went fishing.

After breakfast, Wendy went to work for a bit, then read her new book, whilst Greg went to catch up with the motor bike riders who he normally meets here on a Fri, with Ian.

Ian had caught some crabs yesterday and given some to us and G&C, So, guess what Greg had for lunch today? Wendy went to the bakery for a pie.

An afternoon ride with G&C, blogging, relaxing and getting ready for dinner at the Bowls Club with Ian and Carol saw out the afternoon.

No photos today.

Day 3: Thur 3 Mar - Burrum Heads

Hot and very humid, with a later afternoon storm

Being a Thursday, after coffee and breakfast, we went for a ride. We had arranged to meet Leandra wherever we met her and it was just after Barra Bend for us. Leandra then rode back to BH with us, had a brew, then rode home.

It was really humid during the ride and afterwards, we knew it was brewing for a storm. So, it cam as no real surprise when it did eventuate, just after 3pm. And it bucketed down. We had been watching the radar and the storm cells were wide spread and fast moving. We had water views for a while, but being sandy soil, it drained away pretty quickly.

After Greg got home after Bible study in the Bay, we went over to see Ian and Carol and have a pre-dinner drink with them. Glen and Carmel joined us a little later.

Left over chicken curry and rice for dinner and early to bed, with the aircon on.

Day 2: Wed 2 Mar - Burrum Heads

23-32 deg C (high humidity all day)

After a small sleep in, Wendy went walking with Carmel, Glen went fishing, and Greg went for a walk on his own (he was trying to find Glen, who had gone to Sirenia Beach, but Greg didn't know this!)

After breakfast, Wendy completed a half-days work whilst Greg went for a ride. Before she went to work, Wendy put the drone up whilst there was relatively little wind.

After lunch and a nana nap in our own sweat, we went for a wander along the beach front and back again.

Time to blog, relax and get ready for our Wed night pub meal.

Day 1: Tue 1 Mar - Home to Burrum Heads via Howard, 27 km

We knew we only had a short distance to drive and cold not check-in until midday, so we finished packing the van this morning, then doing a few maintenance issues around the house before leaving home just after 11:30 am. First stop was at Howard to pick up some passion fruit, and we arrived at our destination a little after midday. Glen and Carmel were here already.

After lunch and a nana nap we went for a walk to find Ian and Carol in the same house they were at last year. After a quikc catch-up, Wendy had to run away to prepare dinner (Greg kindly volunteered Wendy to cokk for the six of us tonight). Whilst Wendy was slaving, Greg went for a ride to see a lady from Church (Pauline) who had a bad fall and ended up in ICU, but was discharged today. Greg says she is OK and staying with her daughter for the time being.

As our van site (same one we had last year) is adjacent one of the BBQ huts, we requisitioned it for our dinner party. Wendy set up the wok and laid everything out all over the place so no-one else could muscle-in. So, we had Wendy's tumeric/ginger/lemon grass/garlic chicken on coconut milk with various vege for main, and a passionfruit fluffy pudding for dessert. We were all fat as fools after, and with no dishwasher in the van, Wendy did the majority of the washing up.

We were in bed about 9:30 pm.

Burrum Heads For Four Nights 1-5 Mar

Introduction

We have had itchy feet since about one week after parking up from our last short trip last year. However, with Christmas, New year, and medical appointments to attend, we have not really been able to get away until now. We are going to Burrum Heads, again, which is a short 23 km down the road. We will be there with non-caravanners Ian and Carol, and fellow caravanners and BUGers, Glen and Carmel. We have booked the same site we had last year, and if we get it, it will be a miracle. Ian and Carol have a house for two weeks and they do this every year.
